cross my fingers and hope for the best...
the best for rental home owners is that: eisner is oustered...and take over did not go thru...

history proofs that being taken over by a distribution company will not work out...take a look at AOL/Timewarner...Timwarner on cable company...and Sony on columbia in 1989...hugh write off will happen...and normal business, especially the content side of the business, will get affected in near term...

I am a bit worried about all this recent news about the possibility of Disney being taken over by some obscure TV company. As a visiting 'customer', I wonder what it will mean to the image of Orlando ingeneral and WDW in particular. Will the parks retain the same magic and remain as 'user friendly' as they are now with their emphasis on old fashioned family values? Or will Mickey et al be forced to dance to some new sponsor's tune every year? Whether one likes it or not, people are too used to Disney being Disney and any new image (if that is what's intended) may not work the same magic.

If anyone is interested there are 2 articles in yesterday(sunday) financial mail. One regarding Eisner and the problems he has caused & the other re: bill gates ( microsoft) & his possible financial assistance toward the comcast 'takeover'

I have my bumper sticker too.
I think Comcast have just realised that with all the internal turmoil at disney this is a good time to launch a take over bid. That could well mean that if Comcast aren't successful then another company may give it go instead.
I'm with Martin on this one though - Eisner has lost the plot at Disney. Roy Disney may have been forced out but he has not gone quietly - hopefully we will see the extent of his support at the next shareholders meeting.

I've got my bumper sticker too! Disney really seems to have lost the plot recently under Eisner and it needs to look at restoring its core family market. Generations of us have grown up associating Disney with good things - and someone messes with that at their peril. They should stop trying to be all things to all people. We love it as kids, turn our noses up at it as teenagers (along with everything else of course!) and return in our droves when we have children ourselves and know we can rely on the Disney product for them. Let's hope Roy Disney can get things together and save it and restore the magic.

bill is historically aggressive, and even more aggressive when he sees 40 billion cash is flowing into his microsoft bank account on monthly basis...

for disney, it will be worse off to be controlled by bill instead of by comcast, at least comcast has a former disney executive ready to steel this business at anytime...

If BG takes over, sooner or later he'll want his name up there, knowing his Mount Everest ego. I hope that I don't live to see a WGW in WDW's place. Just think...William Gates World? Ugh! [msncry][msncry]

One thing to remember about take overs from obscure TV companies (Comcast are one of the worlds biggest) is that Universal didn't exactly suffer when a fairly obscure Italian utilities company called Vivendi took over a few years ago.

In fact, it grew another theme park, a resort and a new set of attractions !
