Day 14
The girls go home and I take delivery of a husband!
Well this is it! Today the girls go home and hubby arrives and it will be down to the hard graft of a villa owners holiday![msnsad]
This morning was the first day we hadn't woken to blue skies and sunshine, it was fairly grey although the forecast was for sunshine and cloud.
Helen maintained her last day tradition and asked to go to Celebration for breakfast and the others were happy to agree, so off we trundled for the final time.
One omelette, one French toast, two "build your own breakfasts" and coffee all round. Once we had managed to demolish this lot it was time for a few final photos by the Christmas tree, one last look at the lake and we were off back down the I4, by which time the sun had broken through and threatened yet another glorious day.[msncool]
Would you believe that the others wanted to stop at Walgreens for some final "bits"!
Back at the villa I left them to panic once again about the weight of their luggage .........Gez and Lesley had purchased extra baggage allowance and Helen, who had filled the virtually empty case she brought, opted to leave some stuff behind, here in the villa and give the rest to me to bring home![msneek]
We spent the rest of the day by the pool where the temps reached 84 degrees, not bad for mid Dec!
When it came to pack the car, all I can say is that it was a good job I wasn't going home with them as the luggage would not have fit in!
Back down the 417 I was glad the sun was shining so that the girls will have a final good impression of the place. I think Lesley is a convert but whether or not she will be back is a different matter, I think she spent far more money than she intended and as a single parent of three grown up children finances may not allow her to return too soon, I have sort of promised I will go to her time share in Tenerife next year! Gez will be back again for sure! Helen has not her flight already booked for March.
There were no problems at the rental car return or at check in but the line through security was pretty long. I stood with them for a while but was starting to get hemmed in so I said my goodbyes and went to pick up a Starbucks. By the time I returned the girls still hadn't reached the ticket check and David's plane was showing "in range". I watched the girls all the way through to putting their bags on the security conveyer, we waved finally and as they were out of sight David's plane had landed. I guessed he would be out pretty quickly as according to the board there were no other international arrivals, Delta had arrived 90 mins previously and BA were 8 mins behind. He had texted me to say he was in the front cabin and the plane was half empty, he had no baggage so he ought to be pretty quick to clear things. Sure enough just over 25 mins after landing he came strolling out.
We collected a smaller car and were seated in Chillis in just over 90 mins from him landing......not bad at all![clap]
Well that's about it from the ladies who lunch. For the next week it will be lots of jobs, some golf for David and maybe a bit of light shopping for me! ( I have some catching up to do if I am going to match the others!)[msnwink]
If there is anything exciting to report I will be sure to let you know, but somehow I doubt it!
