    Stayed in a little gem about 35 North of tampa, Cedar Key Guest house on Cedar Key. Built in the 1850 isn Old world charm in a fantastic location. Also near the Suwanneee river , as in the song, and loads of state park attractions. Also stayed in Clearwater many times. We have just booked a stay in Treasure Island for 4 nights between Christmas and New Year

    This is great info everyone, plenty of places for me to google...even the other half showing interest now and he usually just leaves me to it until about a week before we fly

    There is a home on this site near Port Charlotte where you can often watch dolphins (and manatees) from the balcony and it is very well positioned to enjoy all Charlotte County has to offer

    Hi What aboiut Siesta Key.
    Its a great area, 2 hours south of Orlando.
    2011 Best beach in the USA,
    Pure white quartz sand.
    Very relaxed small island feel but a short drive over the bridge to all the shops and malls.
    Mote marine is a local dolphin wildlife rescue center.
    St armands circle has great dining and shopping.
    Marina Jacks Has waterfront dining in the marina dinner cruises,
    boat rentals.
    Places to eat from Tiki hits with live music to Waterfront with white table clothes $$$.
    Check out the photo gallery tab Ive posted pics of Siesta Key and Sarasota.
    You will have a great time on the Gulf coast wherever you decide, Have a great trip.
