    Dress code for restaurants

    Hi

just wondered if there is a dress code to eating out at restaurants or can you just go in your shorts after being out all day?

Also is it ok to just turn up at restaurants or do you need a reservation for steak houses, olive garden etc?

    Thanks for any replies.

The dress code is casual for most restaurants and shorts are fine.

It depends a lot on the time of year as to how busy restaurants are. We are in Florida at the moment and it is not busy at all.
Manny's is one of the more popular restaurants and there is usually a wait to get seated, but we have already been twice and just walked straight in - They don't take bookings anyway, but it is sometimes advisable to phone ahead and get your name on the list.

Saturday nights can be busy and at peak times (June, July, August, Easter, Christmas, New Year and Thanksgiving) it would probably be sensible to book in advance if you have a restaurant that you particularly want to visit.

The dress code really depends on where you are going. Dress is very informal in most family restaraunts. A lot of families go straight from the parks for a meal. In places like steak houses and Olive Garden you can't really book a table, but you can phone ahead to get your name on the list and this reduces your waiting time. In some places they don't even operate this system but it is worth trying, particularly at busy times of the year.

There are not many places you can book ahead unless you are going to a 'fine dining' restaurant in which case they take bookings. You get used to waiting around for a table and it is not usually too long even when they say 45 minutes it often is much quicker.

Casual dress in most of the restaurants unless you are going to places like Gaylords or some of the larger hotels but shorts is fine for 99.9% I would say.
