I'm not really up to date with that end of I drive and can only suggest that you may want to try use google street view to see what's around.

Personally I avoid iDrive at all costs.
It really depends how far down International Drive it is, there is a large block at the very bottom where there aren't so many place but I'm sure the Irdie trolley goes don far enough that even without a car you can still get to plenty of places. As suggested the best way might be to use Google (I assume you have the full address of the hotel which can often be a good starting place.) although bear in mind they may often have been taken a couple of years ago and may have changed somewhat.
I think possible Pointe? Orlando is actually at the TOP of International Drive , in which case it is very commercial and there are loads of places within walking distance.
Just answered my own question, yes it is at the top so you'll have no problem, looks fairly new as well which is good.
To be honest your not going to get the best response from a site promoting Orlando Villas, which offer far better value than hotels. Some folks love idrive others don't. It is considered more the 'Blackpool' of the area. I am sure you have researched your hotel, if not there are plenty of sites with feedback specifically for hotels.
I quite enjoy a little mooch around I-Drive, and have stayed in a couple of hotels there for one or two nights when its been necessary, but prefer to get back to the 'real' Orlando and its less 'Blackpool' areas.
it is near the convention centre so you will be fine for places to go as we have been to Pointe Orlando more than once for Wonderworks, meals and cinema. If you are happy to walk then there is also a Pirates Cove crazy golf course not too much further up the road several more restaurants, supermarket (just off IDrive) and Ripleys. I expect your hotel will also have shuttle buses to the main parks as several of them do although sometimes the times can be a bit limited plus there is also the trolly bus which runs up and down all day which will enable you to get to the top end of IDrive and Premium Mall.
Have a good holiday.
We've been to Hooters at Pointe Orlando and The Pirates Crazy Golf- not done much else in I Drive but there's loads round about there.
