Gasparilla Island, was swimming here and saw a dorsal fin about 5 foot behind the daughter so got out pretty damn quickly...watching them from the shore there were about 5 fins and curved so more than likely an unscheduled free "swim with dolphins" excursion :-)

Most likely dolphins as you say. We see them every year off Captiva, and when we rent a boat ( which we're doing again tomorrow) they have a habit of following you around. I can't convince my daughter they're not sharks and every time we see them she has a minor fit, assuming it's Jaws about to attack the boat. We have seen a few big turtles as well, which is much ore soothing.

Occam's Razor says dolphins eating the numerous fish swimming around us, some who jumped into me at points...might hire a boat in the next couple of weeks so hopefully we'll see some more.
And I think it was a range light but with good visibility it could have been the Blackpool Tower :-)
I too would have panicked at the sight of any fin - jaws music springs to mind...du dun, du dun, du dun, dun dun dun dun dun!!
