    Red face Ruth's Chris Steakhouse

We are off to Tampa next weekend and while we are over there it will be my wifes Birthday. It is usualy the case that her birthday falls while we are on holiday and this year I thought I would treat her by booking a table at Ruth's Chris.

Has anyone been? would you recomend for a special occasion? Do they have a dress code?

    Any pointers would be welcome

I've never been to the one in Tampa but I have visited some of the others across the US. I'd say that it's a cut above (pun intended) the usual chain steakhouses but not at the very top end. For an 'ordinary' birthday it's ideal but probably not for a 'landmark' one.

If there is a dress code, it's very flexible!!

Berns Steakhoise in Tampa knocks spots off Ruth's (although I have not been for quite some time).

I have been told good things about Berns but was also told they operate a strict Dress code. While I have no problems putting on a pair of trousers and a short sleeved shirt I am on holiday and no wish to take a jacket with me. I have also been told Charleys is good.

By the way Katys Grandad it's not a landmark birthday so Ruths would do the job

Dress code is not strict, smart casual is fine, no flip flops or shorts.
