Now I have got that off my chest! I think I already know the answer to this already unfortunately but will ask for confirmation anyway ......
I am travelling on my own to Florida on Saturday and have hired a car - now I find I do not have the photo part of my driving licence. I still have the paper part of my licence. Do you think I will be able to pick up my car with just this? I am guessing no but just need to check [msncry]

Ouch. I feel your pain. Last ditch thought - can you try and renew it online? I 've heard reports of people doing this on Sunday and getting it back by Wednesday. It's a long shot but in your situation i'd try anything.

Phew - disaster averted and Photo ID FOUND!!!!! OK now I just need to pack a weeks worth of stuff into one small back pack and I am sorted

Flying out early January this year I realised shortly before Christmas that my photo licence was to expire while we were in Florida. Needless to say the replacement never arrived in time. I took my paper licence and explained that my licence had not expired but the photo card had to be renwed as the photograph was over 10 years old. They were happy to accept the paper licence.
