Our expeirience with Sanford is that between 5 & 6pm all the shops (not that there are many) close so not sure what would happen with a long delay.

If you find out there is a long delay is it worth eeing if you can extend the car hire for 1 day to give you more options? Perhaps a day at the waterparks if you have any tickets or see if you can arrange a leate check out with the villa owner? It's always easier if you can check in online and then you don't need to be at the airport quite so early. Otherwse once you et to the airport if there is that length of delay they at least will have to give you some food vouchers if not hotel depending on if they expect it to take off on time

Well, here we all are sat on the floor at Sanford. We've checked in and dropped the cases. Everyone is being very philosophical about it all (so far).
Monarch have arranged for a fleet of buses to take us to a hotel to feed us,The Westin Hotel, Lake Mary, and they intend to bus us back here at 22.00 local if the plane is on its way. Manchester's Live Flight Info has the outgoing flight status as "Go To Gate" so I assume it will be on its way soon.
Security at Sanford closes at 2330 so we need to be airside before then we're told.

    Thanks Eric.

We're all at the hotel now, it looks like a lovely place but currently resembles a posh refugee camp with people sprawled all over the place! There is a shopping mall right across the road, but very black ominous looking clouds overhead so we're staying where we are as at least we have seats at the moment.
