We are, in the Dad’s Taxi household, creatures of habit. Our first day has to be Animal Kingdom. This stems from reading in The Brit Guide several years ago that the safari is best experienced early in the day before the animals do the sensible thing and find somewhere shaded and cool to fall asleep and ignore all the nosy tourists. So 0810 saw us parked and waiting for the tram to the gates.
And then a quick march to the safari, and we’re straight on the truck.

I remember asking on here a couple of years ago if the lion we saw was actually real – I can now confirm to similar disbelievers that they are – I saw them move! For those familiar with the ride, I personally was pleased that the daft story about the poachers snatching a (quite obviously fibreglass) baby elephant has been dropped, and more emphasis was put on detailing the animals in the reserve.
