Entering usa in january 2013 and...

....my italian passport expires in september 2013.

I have checked the usa and italian sites and i am pretty sure im allowed as we come back to the uk' january 18th.
Can anyone just confirm this is ok?

You should be fine as there is more than 6 months validity. Despite what the websites say about not needing to have 6 months left and the Immigration officer at MCO confirming this, as were knew we wouldnt be going back for a while we didn't renew hubbie spassport before we travelled in Dec as we knew we would lost at least 6 months of the new 2 year validity of the new Esta we would need, he got taken in for secondary questioning, and asked why he hadnt got a new passport etc. We're hoping this doesnt mean that each time he goes in now will get the same questions, but will take his old passport with us just in case.
