Is it correct that national add 12% Airport fee when collecting car. Hired our car from here so just had to pay one way fee and fuel when collecting car from Newark . Have since checked invoice and seen they charged 12% extra Airport fee. Thanks

No, that's not correct. If you email us at info@uscarhire.co.uk with your order number and a scanned copy of your rental agreement from National then we can take this up with National for you.

I will try and arrange access to a scanner. Just to confirm it was 38us dollars they charged which was 12% of the total of the onewayfee and the prepaid gas. Thanks Nadine. I am taking the car back tomorrow if you want me to question this with National if you are sure they shouldn't charge a supplement for things purchased at the time of pick up.

Now I understand. When you apy anything locally (1-way fee, tank of gas, child seats, gps or anything else) you have to pay local taxes on those fees (which includes airport fees) just on that amount. 12% sounds about right.
