    1 day car hire?

I have guests who would like to hire an 8 seater van but are worried about fitting 7 people and 7 suit cases in, so were thinking about hiring a small car at the Airport to help with the cases and drop it off locally the next day, I have looked on the site and it won't let you have a car now for just one day, is that a new thing or am I doing some thing wrong?

We have lots of 1 day orders so it's definitely possible to do it. You will have to select the Silver option as all the suppliers have got wise to the old one of booking Gold for a very short rental and getting a free tank of gas.

Bear in mind, if you go for the Silver option (which you will have to do now for a 1 day rental as per John's post above) then you can return with a full tank to avoid the refueling fee.

Thank you both, I was trying it on the gold option.

Glad to hear that you can return the Silver option after a 1 day rental with a full tank rather than paying the exorbitant charges for refuelling. We have always taken the Gold option to save on this. We have our own car in Florida, but it we don't have anyone to pick us up then it was cheaper than a taxi.

Yes, this changed from the 1st April this year, and applies to Alamo and National when booked through us, regardless of how long your rental is.

Maybe not so much for holidaymakers but I wouldn't be surprised if a 1 day rental is actually the most common of all, especially from US airports.

Just a quick question. Do you have to request the option to return the car full when collecting it or can you just do it?

When you collect the car, you will need to choose then, as the refueling fee (if you opt for that) is added at that time. If you chose to return empty then end up returning full, the refueling fee will still be charged to your card (I expect we could then try to get that back for you if you can show receipts for the tank of gas to refill, but it's a hassle you could do without).

I completed an Alamo "Save Time" online a few weeks ago for a car collection next week and it gave me no option and just added the fuel charge. Is there anyway I can still return the car full and have the charge removed?
