    Alamo Fuel Costs

Going to Orlando in April and picking up a Ford Escape or similar from Alamo at Sanford Airport. I was wondering if any knows roughly how much Alamo will charge for a full tank of fuel for this vehicle. Thank you

I'm not sure of the tank size or the current price of fuel BUT there are two options.

Alamo, unlike many other car hire companies, only charge a small premium over the pump price for refilling the tank so it's not a large cost you need to budget for. Also Alamo will now let you return the car with a full tank and then you have no charge.

Just be careful to find out where you can fill the tank near the airport. There is one now famous gas station near Orlando International that was charging nearly $8 a gallon.

The option to return with a full tank has not been an option when booked through US Carhire, if this has changed I would be very interested. It was not an option in February.

We had a Ford Escape mid-SUV on our last trip - from memory Dollar charged around $70 for the tank of fuel at around $3.80 a gallon

We used to do the 'take back full' option but Dollar are no longer offering that. As you can imagine we limped into MCO on fresh air and a prayer!!!

As far as I remember without checking, which I will do in a minute, the new contract with Alamo that UScarhire have allows you to return full for hires that start after the 1st of April.

That's correct, on Silver option with our Alamo package, if you collect on or after 1st April 2012 then you can choose to either take back full (no charge) or take back empty and pay for the tank.

As usual, on the Gold option you collect full and return empty and do not pay for the tank of fuel as it's included in the price.
