Sports Events in Orlando early April?

I will be in Orlando from the end of March until after Easter with my wife, her sister and husband and their two small kids. My brother in law would love to see some American sports event. I don't think he's a real fan of any particular team or sport, just fancies soaking up the atmosphere. Can anyone recommend anything local?

End of March start of April is the culmination of March madness which is the college basketball championships which will be televised and have some great games. April 5th to 7th at Tampa is the Frozen Four which is the college ice hockey finals. You will also find there are some spring training baseball games at Disney and Orlando Magic have some home games in this period.

Thanks Jill, some good suggestions there. I will take a look!

The Atlanta Braves play their Spring Training games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports which is on Disney property. The last games to be played there before the season commences are :

    25th March v Astros
    28th March v Yankees
    30th March v Astros
    31st March v Tigers
    1st April v Phillies
    2nd April v Mets

Never seen a Spring Training game but seen many Major League games and I can recommend a Baseball game.

Our son loves all sports so we are hoping to take him to a game when we are out in Florida at Easter-where do you purchase the tickets.

I guess you could buy them at the Stadium on game day but I would recommend that you go on the Atlanta Braves web site (don't know if I'm allowed to post the link or not but just Google Atlanta Braves) and click on "Schedule". The fixtures will come up and there is a green T which if you click will take you to Ticketmaster where you can buy the tickets on-line.

It may be a little more expensive as there may be a fee/commission but you generally can see a stadium plan and pick your seats.

Quick update: I have tickets for Magic vs Nuggets on April 1st. It will be a bit of a memory trip for me as I used to live in Denver.

    Thanks for all the suggestions
