    Disability badges

    Good morning
Does anyone know if the UK disability badge can be used in Florida or if not is there an alternative people can apply for before their holiday.

If you put Blue Badge into the search facility you will find past threads

No they can't be used any more. Why would they let people use them when it's another way to get money out of tourists

The parks will accept Blue Badges and it would be a very mean officer to ticket you on the street with one but to can happen. To be honest, mostly they are not required as parking is superb where ever you go. We had a full size, converted van with wheelchair lift and rarely used the disabled spots.
For the parks only use disabled parking if you are in a wheelchair, the walk is very long (much longer that regular parking, were can hop on a shuttle), with the exception of Hollywood Studious.

I've emailed the office for clarification since, as Martin says, there is ia a possibility that you could be fined (others on different forums have, so it could be a bit of a grey area. It may be a case of just because you haven't got a fine doesn't mean it is actully legal, looking at the statute it says that other States may use their own or if a Country has an Internationally recognised and reciprocity (which may have been introduced/validate since the piece was written.

Osceola office is very clear - you need a local/us placard...and I did see a ticket being issued to a vehicle showing our blue badge.

Just found this topic - I applied directly to Osceola County - it was under the osceola.gov site. Completed the form on line, got a very nice e-mail back, phoned and paid $15 by credit card and recieved the temporary disabled card. This only was valid for 12 weeks. I sent the form in August, received it at the end of the month and used it when we were there and again in November. I re-applied - no money this time - for our stay in January - they sent a new one to me within days. The application is only valid for a year - so I'll need to do it all over again before we go back out in September - but I would rather pay $15 than get a $$$ fine!
