Miami vacation...

Hi all,we normally do the orlando thing and have visited their like 5 times now over the last 10 years...we thinking of seeing parts of miami,key west etc;
Can anyone advise me on if my idea of flydrive down to miami staying in a quant little b&b in key west for a few days then driving up the west coast back to orlando for atleast one day at epcot is do-able?

We have just done this. Stayed in Miami, near the airport for the first night as advised on here, great advice too. The trip down to Key West and back was brilliant, so many place too see and enjoy. We then stayed in Homestead before taking the Tamiami trail, loved this trip and have lots of new memories. We then did Fort Myers, Naples etc and the the final night before we went to Orlando we stayed in Sarasota. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely, the only journey we didnt enjoy was the return jorney from Kissimme to Miami Airport, using the quicker but boring drive via the Florida Turnpike.

We did a similar trip to Jan a few years ago.
We flew in to Miami, stayed at Bayside for a couple of nights and did a few of the tours on offer there to see the sights of Miami & Miami beach. Then drove dwn to Islamorada, we stayed at the very lovely Hampton Inn and suites for a few days. We did drive down to Key West and spent the day down there. I am glad we didn't stay down on Key West, a day trip was enough for us.
The next part of our trip was at Naples, then we headed to Captiva for a further 4 nights before heading back up to Kissimmee.

Loved all the places we visited on our trip and would return to them all. We have now fallen in love with Anna Maria Island on the Gulf and spend at least 5 nights there each trip to Florida.
