    What aircon setting is best?

Hello everyone, just wondering what temperature setting you all use for the aircon in the villas. I ask because the villa we are in has a fixed setting of 76 farenheit, which we find uncomfortably warm. I know there will be personal preferences, but wanted to know what the general opinion is.

A lot may depend on what the outside temperature is doing as to how comfortable it feels inside, plus you have the continual argument of what different people in the party prefer, for example, I think I would find 76 a little to warm and my wife would find it too cool, so it's probably not a bad compromise! I don't think that there is an absolutely "correct" answer, I'm afraid. If there are ceiling fans they can make a big, big difference to how cool a villa will feel, so definitely put them on also it may be best to get in touch with the villa's management company or the owner to see if it could be dropped a little.

Our settings are normally 78 degrees for guests. at this time of year, when we have normally visited the US ourselves, I would find 76 a little chilly. Some air conditioning systems if set below 74 for long periods can what it known to freeze up, and not function properly.

Hi again, thanks for the info so far. We will get a thermometer today to check if the controller is actually reading correctly. We have stayed in many villas, and stayed in this one twice before and never felt this warm; can't sleep. There is air coming from the vents, but it is at room temperature, not in the least chilled.
We asked the MC about it when we arrived and were told that the setting was fixed by the owner and the MC don't have a key for the controller, so can't change it. we are waiting for the owner to get back in touch, hoping that someone can cool it down a little.

We have a contoller where guests can set it between 72 cool and 81 warm . I usually have it set around 77 but Jai thinks that's too warm and prefers 75 which I think is too cold ( I hate being cold)

Sounds like the best plan, Scorpio.

I also have a owner controlled system, however I have a flexibility for the guest to change the settings up or down by 6 degrees for about 8 hours before it defaults back to original settings. If you hear the fan going, although the air maybe warm, it could be the it is on fan only, or again if it frozen then yes the fan may come on, on its own.

The owner and Mc will make sure it is working properly for you

Our villa has an "intelligent" thermostat which we have programmed to 75 evening / night / morning & 85 during the day when guests usually out & about. It can be overridden by guests to a minimum temp. of 70 (but only for 4 hours !) - it then resets to programmed temp but can be overridden again......
We personally have it set at 72 for the first few days of our visits, but then find 75 about right..

I have to say we leave our thermostat for the Guests to determine what they want. In my case, I have absolutely no idea what temperature setting I would want, it just depends how I'm feeling, so if it's hot I'll turn it down and if it's cool I'll turn it up. Having a daughter who has suffered in many uncomfortable hotel rooms with fixed temps, we decided that flexibility would be what would suit us so that's what we'd offer.

Are there any ceiling fans to cool it don at all, if not if there is no way that the setting can be adjusted why not ask if they could provide a portable fan. Have to say though I do like what I'm hearing in the respect we come over soon and I'd rather hear it was too warm than too cool

We set ours at 76 and advise guests to do the same.
