    Question Alamo security deposit?

Hi there, can anyone tell me how much Alamo would take in cash for security deposit, thinking of using cash as we have the young drivers package so booking had to be made in my sons name and his credit card has a low limit! Read on another forum $100 per week which would be fine! Can anyone confirm this? And also we have two separate bookings for the two weeks will they just transfer deposit over to second week and then return cash to us when we return the car? Thanks Pauline

If using cash (assuming they allow it at all) then it's usually between $250 - $500. I can't comment on how they would refund it and/or move it over as officially this is not a supported method of deposit for Young Driver bookings, so if you ask Alamo and they say it is OK then I'd suggest you get it in writing.

Does your son have a debit card he could use?

Yes he does but he's worried about how much they would take off as this is going to reduce his spending money! Seems unfair if the take a lot as he may not even drive he is only on for emergencies or to allow me to possibly enjoy a little margarita which I don't usually get as the only driver! Lol!!! He's always fancied a stint behind the wheel and seemed ideal this year with the young driver package though seems to be turning into a bit of a nightmare!! Thanks

Hi again, phoned Alamo at mco today to see if they could tell me how much the deposit would be! So posting this incase anyone else in the same position! The lady said that because of young driver the cash deposit would be $200 per week and that as I have booked two separate week bookings they would transfer the deposit over to the second week and that it would be returned when we took the car back if not required! She also said that we would have to go to the desk to do this and not use the kiosk! If my son did not have a credit card they could also change the main drivers name manually for us so that we could use a card? Didn't really understand how that would be possible when the young driver has to be the primary driver!!! Anyway she also said that The deposit that would be taken should he have a credit card would be "zero, zero" only a physical deposit if it is cash!!! Unfortunately I was disconnected after that and was unable to get her to clarify it any further! So here's hoping that this is correct!!! Hope this is helpful for future reference!
