    Hurricane Irene

The first major storm of the summer is due to pass to the East of Florida in the next couple of days. Far enough out to sea to not be a problem I would add.

It normally produces some decent waves and, if anyone is out there, it is a good time to visit the Atlantic coast and see some great surfing.

Does not sound good as it apparently is gathering speed but fortunately has missed Florida.
Have a friend in Myrtle Beach and they seem to be getting the edge of it at present

Not really, hurricanes are largely dependent on the warmth of the water so the later months of the six month hurricane season are usually the ones to look out for. September is reckoned to be main month for the storms as the water is at its warmest before it slowly cools down. Katrina went through on August Bank Holiday weekend and Irene is following the pattern.

A few years ago there was a hurricane at the end of May which caught everyone on the hop.

Looking at the charts on the National Hurricane Center website it looks as though Irene is going to miss Florida and stay out at sea

We had a few showers yesterday, but they didn't last long. Today is blue sky...with a few fluffy white clouds. Only a small chance of rain in central florida. The winds and rain are around the Daytona Area at the moment. As it blows over Sat and Sun here in Florida is suppose to be hot hot hot...even hotter than it has been and that has been hot.
