Hi there, we're not actually heading back to florida untill sept 2012 but I'm just wondering which car rental company are the cheapest/best value. we like to hire a dodge charger/chevy impala size car and last year we used budget and whilst we happy enough with the car we eventually got the first one broke down within the first hour of us picking it up leaving us stranded on some roadside at midnight not the best start to the hol and also it was very difficult to actually get in touch with someone to collect us (eventually a police officer assisted us). We appreciate that any car can breakdown but we're just wondering if budget are a company notorious for this or were we just unlucky.

I guess cars can break down from any company, although the Budget fleet is generally not as up to date as say Alamo, Dollar or National. That said, they do have newer cars too, so you won't necessarily get a car that is old. The main thing is the cars should be well maintained regardless of age.

Until earlier this year we used to offer Budget, but did have more problems with them than our other suppliers so make the decision not to offer them any more.
