    Poor quality hire cars

    Hi

Has anyone experienced problems with Dollar hire cars?

Last time I hired a full size car from dollar I was presented with a
very old and tired looking car
It had about 65,000 miles on the clock, the inside of the car was filthy and the seats had burn marks on them.
The outside of the car was not much better with a lot of s[bad language filtered out]es

I went to complain and was eventually given a slightly better car, but it still had a fair few faults with it

My advice to anybody is when you get the car if it has faults make a note of them on the hire agreement and get the dollar desk to sign it, this way they can't try to charge you for the damage later on

Has anybody received a poor car in the past? and did you manage to get an exchange

I would have thought a big company like dollar would only supply cars with less than say 20,000 on the clock and without major faults

I think dollar say if you are not happy you can return the car within 24hrs for an exchange, has anybody tried this?

I have only ever used Dollar and have never experienced anything like you mention, the cars have all been young and immaculate and in very good condition.

Never had a problem with Dollar, or any other car hire company. The cars have always been fairly new (no more than 2 years old), clean and running well.

We had one minor problem a couple of years ago was when the airbag light started to play up during the holiday. Dollar replaced the vehicle immediately and the new car had a full tank of petrol too.

We have used Dollar the last 2 times. Both cars were in good condition, no problems.

We've never had a problem either - all the cars have been almost new with very few miles on the clock and in great condition [msnsmile]

We had a high mileage car(full size) on our last visit which had obviously been used by a smoker previously to us and had not been cleaned very well. Due to flight delays we were tired and just wanted to get to out of the airport, so we did not try to change the car. This was the first time we had had a less than spotless car in the many years we had used Dollar. I am sure that there would have been no problem changing the car though.

The previous trip we had ordered a full size and actually got a 7 seater Caravan. We managed to pick up a puncture half way through the holiday and the car only had an emergency tire in the car. When we took the car in to Dollar, they swapped it immediately for a Grand Caravan with 6 miles on the clock and a full tank of fuel.

We will definitely continue using Dollar going forward.

We have also used Dollar the last two times to Florida.
No problem with either car, but the baby seat we were given on our last trip was disgusting. It was old and filthy.

We went back and changed it for another seat, which was in better condition, but not ideally suited to our 3 month old granddaughter as it did not have any head support. We were charged $80 to hire the seat. It would have been cheaper to buy one.

Used quite a few companies and Dolllar is our favourite, mainly because we've never had a duff car from them yet and always had low mileage models. On our last visit in December/January we had an I4 car with less than 2000 miles on the clock.

One of the full size cars we've had from them on a previous trip had leather seats, compass and all the works!

Don't forget that if you should be unhappy with a Dollar car for some reason, they're one of the few companies where you can return the car within 24 hours of collection and get a different one.
