Have a look at 'apartments' on the strip.

A lot of them are are really hotel suites but many do have balconies. For starters, look at the Signature apartments at the MGM Grand but there are others and the price is comparable to that for a good suite.

We stayed at the Signature in October. The suites were superb. You could pay a little extra and request a room with a balcony but for the amount of time you spent in it we chose not to. An excellent hotel (with the exception of the Deli cafe which was not the best).

Thanks all - unfortunately no room at the MGM Signature but that would have been the perfect option for us as they do a suite with 2 bedrooms for the teenagers and then a room for us -now looking at Venetian. Balcony was for other half to smoke!

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan and booked a terrace suite - it was an apartment style room with one large bedroom, huge bathroom, further powder room, full kitchen and not one but two large balconies with sliding doors, one of which overlooked the Bellagio fountains. I expected the heat to be oppressive in August but it was bearable even to sunbathe for short periods between dips in the pool. We stayed 4 nights, had a day trip out to the Grand Canyon (yes we braved the Skywalk which was much smaller than we imagined!) and also a night out at Ka, the Cirque de Soleil show which was great and made a change having seen La Nouba at Downtown Disney 3 or 4 times. The main attractions are the different hotels and what they offer I guess - we didn't bother with the casinos particularly as they were mobbed by Friday and the music was deafening! but it was an interesting experience. One morning we saw several people dressed in evening clothes come stumbling out of the casino in tears - could only imagine how much they'd lost! It is definitely worth checking out transport before you go - we used the monorail a couple of times but unless you're staying at a hotel on/next to the line ie MGM, Paris, Flamingo, Caesar's Palace it isn't worth the fare. Huge lines for the buses - we mainly walked - miles. Also the shopping is great if you like Prada - there are outlets if you have a car. It rains rarely but poured on our last morning on and off for an hour - very odd! The outing to G/Canyon is to the only part of the rim still owned by the native American Indians and has no safety rails. The south rim was sold to the govt and has rails - strangely enough that is where most deaths occur.
