    Paying for Petrol / Gas.

    Hi folks,

Do petrol / gas stations in the Orlando area have pay at the pump options(with your debit / credit card) like in the UK? Last time I visited there wasn't and the nearest gas station to where I stayed insisted on being paid in cash prior to fueling!

    Thanks

Virtually all of the fuel stations with credit/debit card facilities, now ask for the zip code of the address to be entered. If you wish to use a card to pay for the fuel, you will more than likely have to enter the store before hand, as if paying cash prior to fuelling. I know in the past some people have put in a florida zip code so that they can continue to fuel without going into the store, but it will not always work, if at all now.

Gas stations now need zip codes so unless you have a US credit card linked to a US address you will have no luck with UK credit/debit cards.

Purchase a gift card from Wal Mart, load some $ on it with a UK credit/debit card and then use that at the pump and get 3c a gallon reduction in price and work the money off as if it was a debit card. Alternatively pay cash!!

When using a credit card and it asks for your zip code, try entering 99999. I didn't tell you that.[msnwink]

The correct way to enter UK post cots is as follows (although 99999 or 00000 can work too).

if your postcode is DY8 3LJ just use the numbers and zeros as below:

00083 but you must make up to 5 digits with zeros.

hope that makes sense. Should work in any machine with current software.

Went to Racetrack on 192 near Linfields.

    Tried 99999 - Didn't work.
    Tried 00000 - Didn't work.
Tried 00139 (numbers in my postcode) - Didn't work.

This confirms what I have tried past years (99999 & 00000) that these codes do not work.

The gift card is a good tip Claire. Does it definitly work? If you use it I presume it does not ask for a code of any kind.

Angela, you use it just as if you were using a Gift Card in this country. You will have loaded $ onto it and you just work it off, either for gas or in the store. It definitly works. Having said that down on the Gulf Coast where our villa is I find Race Trac prices sometime beat even Wal Mart prices with the 3 cents deduction. No code is needed you are using your own money!!!
