The Last Shuttle Launch

I just wondered if anyone is watching the last shuttle launch?

The countdown is held at 31 seconds at the mo - the point the launch hands over to the shuttle's own computers I think.

Fingers crossed that it is fixed before the launch window passes ...

Watched it live on Sky News and Nasa TV on computer.....sad it is finished.

Watched it on the BBC but have sadly never seen one for real .... never will now [msnsad]

Watched it live on TV and heard the rumble of the engines, but was too cloudy to see it (it comes up over the top of the house opposite us, by which time it is just above cloud level)

End of an era. Sad that our children and grandchildren will never see the sort of amazing space flights that we have done - first man in space, first man on the moon, etc.

Just reading back my first post ... I was watching it on BBC News here in the UK. It read back as though I was there. If only...

It's such a shame to see it decommissoned without an immediate replacement.

I wonder who'll be next to the moon? Anyone care to hazard a guess?

I guess, Steve, we probably won't see such happenings any more in our lifetime. With the recession the last thing people want their money spent on is space exploration.

I have to say that watching a shuttle launch was one of the most exciting and emotional events I have witnessed. I am really glad we managed to see one 'live.'

I agree Ellie ,we were very fortunate to witness three daytime and two night time space shuttle flights over the past 10 years .[msnwink]
