You'll need to ask the owner you booked with as each owner has a different way of doing it. With our own homes, we just give you a lockbox code that is active from 4pm on the day of your arrival and you go straight to the villa and use this with the lockbox near the front door to get the key and let yourself in.

We operate with key collection from our management company and after office hours the keys and directions to the villa are in a secure box outside their office to which I then give my guests a key code to the box.

We have a computerised key pad system where each guest gets a code for the duration of their stay so no key is required.

We have the same as Graham, no key's required. The home you have rented may be the same.

Two totally different systems, my guests collect a key and put it in a lock and turn the bolt.

We have also have a computerised lock system which is very convinient for us and our guests.
The guests have their own code for the time of the stay, and we don`t worry about lost keys or codes given out to others.

I am interested in the computerised system can someone give me some info. Do you have a monthly charge to have this, and where do you get the lock? I presume you set it over the internet. Any info would be most welcome - and please it needs to be simple, I am not too good with complicated things.
