We would like to go on an airboat ride this year - does anyone give any good suggestions of best/safest place to go - not too far away??? Great site by the way!!!

We've used Boggy Creek airboats - just east of Disney - and had a great time. Next time we're over we're going to try driving our own - someone recommended one just along the 192 past Walmart on the right.

There was a thread on the forum recently about air boats which you might find useful:

Boggy creek airboats have a place down Poinciana Blvd towards Poinciana plus one on the 192. We have tried both and recommend the Poinciana one as the best experience. Watch out for the discount books at resturants for all sort of discounts including Boggy Creek Airboats. Good luck with the villa and do have a look around in this forum, you find lots of really good information.

Alfie- I too wish i had found this forum a year ago. Would have saved much searching and eyestrain. Would have been so much easier to fill out a form and request what we were looking for. We did rent direct from the owner, so we knew what we were getting before we went. We were well satisfied, just would have been nice to make some comparisons. Oh well next time. Wish I was there now- snowing and blowing and cold, wind chills below zero.[8D]

    Hi Alfie

What a shame you didn't find us first but, as everyone else has said, you can get lots of info for your Florida trip from here and there's always next time...

I agree with Harmony about Boggy Creek Airboats. We too have been to both locations lots of times and think that the Poinciana one was the better of the two.

Always been tempted to do one of their night time rides but never seem to manage the time to get around to it. Perhaps you can 'test drive' it for us when you've over? http://www.bcairboats.com

Hi - I too recommend Boggy Creek at Poinciana. We had a great time and did see some baby gators. We fancied the night time trip too but later on an old timer said you had to cover up from head to toe because of the mosquitos, so you might bear that in mind!

You will love the information you get from this site believe me. It has been so helpful to me

PTCRUISERMOM: You must be in the northeast U.S. where I am; it is 10 degrees in Washington D.C. area here tonight, bitter cold wind, icy, and will snow Sunday. Short and sneakers and airboats sound so far away now. Sigh. Three more months to wait to take advantage of my first villa rental and all the planning and dinner, golf, horse riding and other reservations I have made in FL.

My husband , daughter and son in law did the drive yourself airboats near Walmart on the 192 on the last trip and thought they were brilliant.

We've always donethe Boggy Creek Airboats at East Lake Toho Fish Camp as much for the nice little restaurant there as anything else. I always enjoy the ride out there and I love how laid back it is at the Fish Camp-we nearly always get chatting to someone.

However it might be nice to give the Poinciana one a try. Those that have been is it a similar set up to the Boggy Creek one-with a restaurant etc

    (We're a family led by it's stomach!)

Yes it does have a restaurant/bar - but we were there in the morning so just had cold drinks. But it is very authentic with a fishy theme as you can imagine. Don't know what the food is like - perhaps someone else can help
