    Suitcase security

    Hi all

What is the current thinking on whether to apply some security to suitcases going across the Atlantic?

Should we buy some small padlocks and append them?

Should we buy padlocks recommended by the US Security guys?

Should we just use those plastic ties?

    What say the experts?

I don't lock mine -. But nothing of any value in them, just clothes and toiletries. Interested to hear others replies.....

The TSSA recommended locks are a waste of time, they do not lock them. use cable ties.

I use plastic cable ties to stop things being slipped in may case by opportunists as much as being taken out.

We used locks on all the cases last time and they were all broken off and the cases looked in by Homeland Security so in future we will use tie wraps.

We used to buy the correct locks but our cases were always opened and the locks left off. For the past few years we have used cable ties and our cases have never been opened. Buy the brightly coloured ones and it is also easy to spot you cases.

Last time back the TSSA approved padlock was undone, so cases had been opened.
However the lock was not 'relocked' and lucky not to have fallen off and lost.

Cable ties are cheap, cheerful & WORK !!!
Before you shut your cases, just slide an marked envelope with a few 'spare' ties inside... We have found that if cases are officially opened, they will use a 'spare' tie if available....
P.S. TSSA will usually leave a note in your case if inspected....

Whenever our cases have been checked they have been reclosed using a blue cable tie so we use any colour but that and can see straight away if it has been changed.
