Some airlines have cancelled flights from Scotland's airports, albeit smaller airlines. There are some delays to Atlantic flights, according to BBC's website.

BA cancelling flight from scottish airports now. Not panicking yet, we'll see.

Incidentally, don't transatlantic flights usually fly up over Iceland?

Anyone flying might also want to check with their insurance company if they are covered for delays. When it beacme avaiable early this year we added it onto our policy at around £40 for the year it covers all catastastrophic weather so figured it was worth the extra.

If it isn't covered at least you can then make contingency plans in the form of having extra money accessible if you need it.

A lot do and that seems to be causing delays at the moment. Yesterday's Manchester-Chicago AA flight had to take a different route which meant that it had to stop to refuel in Maine. Not a massive problem at the moment but it's the knock-on effect of these delays that will cause bigger problems if the situation continues or worsens.

I'm flying transatlantic today and so far my flight is operating but with a significant delay and a longer flight time. I'll just have to wait and see I suppose.

Flying on Friday from Gatwick with the kids. Fingers crossed. With ash clouds and snow, the UK doesn't seem to be having much luck these days with air travel.
