We are travelling from Glasgow so it is always much more expensive! First time we went it was a package holiday into Sanford!!! Horrible flight! Horrible airport! Since then we have travelled with American, ba and virgin of which ba have always come out on top for service, virgin from Manchester was like a cattle wagon and the crew were very unhelpful! Because taking first timers this year we thought it would be nice to go direct but would not give virgin £1700 each direct from Glasgow !!!! Anyway have been checking all prices for every date in October and finding it hard to get anything below £700 which is till quite high as you are talking about two changes and some journey times over 20 hours which I would probably consider if the price was right! We don't mind changes so long as our luggage get s transferred! Went through new York and Chicago a few times but then went with ba from London and loved arriving early and not having a dead day as I am always so excited I've got get out right away as soon as I drop of the cases!!!! That's why I love this forum I love reading about people making their plans and the things they do when they get their!!! It all adds to the excitement!!!!
We recently flew into Sanford with Thomson, went because it was cheap (less than £350 each) hadn't been charter or to Sanford for years. I have to say I was impressed and am looking out for another couple of weeks flying with Thomson if the price is right.

We flew with Aer Lingus in January - Glasgow via Dublin - cost was around £420. I always try and book my next flight when we get home. This time - in March, the flights for September had gone up to £571 - again Glasgow/Dublin/Orlando. I checked them a couple of days ago and they had gone up to nearly £800 for September - so I'm glad I booked them when I did! I have used charters, Dutch, American, BA, Virgin and have to say that so far Aer Lingus has got my vote. If nothing else it's the fact we can clear immigration in Dublin, which means an almost straight road out of MCO to collect your car![msnwink]

Monarch airlines have decided to become competition to Easyjet etc and at certain times of year they fly into Sanford. For end of August they are very reasonable with a premium class flight costing less than an economy flight with either virgin or BA

Flown with Virgin for the last few years but prices are getting ridiculous. Looking at Thomsons for next May.

Just checked Aer Lingus for next July and is £900 odd each- shame as it sounds like a great option from Glasgow- flight times were really good etc

The biggest problem for us, (& many friends) with charter is we find they are so restrictive.[msnsad] Only fly certain days, only 7/14/21 day breaks, etc

I have also never managed to find a price low enough to make them worthwhile, (in comparison with sheduled flights) after you take in all the extras/low bagage etc.

    Will keep looking though[msnwink][msnwink]

I agree charter are restrictive. For our planned trips each year, which are 6-8 weeks in Nov/Dec and then 6-8 weeks in Feb/Mar charter would not be an option, however now that we are retired and can go at anytime if we can get a cheap charter from Birmingham we only need to take hand luggage and can go for a 2 or 3 week trip with only a few days notice. (Just booked flights £300 going Monday)

You should try booking from Australia . We fly out to Los Angeles Dec 23rd , return to Melbourne Jan 28 and the Qantas fare is $3168 . Now that hurts for a family of 6 .
We come from a land downunder

Virgin are crying out for people to pay extra for PE. I have had 2 sets of friends who have both had phone calls from Virgin to offer them upgrades for £250 return!

We returned today from MCO with Virgin (cattle class). The plane was a 747 but the seats looked new and everything was spick and span. We had 3 seats each so stretched out. The last 6 flights I have done with Virgin during the past 12 months, I have had 3 seats to myself. Why would I want to upgrade...the planes have had approx. 260 passengers including crew and everyone is in a good mood as there are so many spare seats to be had. Hopefully they may learn they need to reduce the prices to get full planes as they still have to pay full compliment of staff!!! I am not even a Virgin fan...but am enjoying the pleasure of having 3 seats each time I fly[clap]
What made it even better I used my miles and had a free flight.
