    Thomas Cook Flights

    Hi,

Has anyone flown with Thomas Cook recently? I'm flying from Manchester to Sanford in July and have heard one or two bad reviews about them. They stated on the website when I booked the flights there was only 29" pitch seat (which I thought were standard size anyway)and no in flight entertainment or meals. I have 2 young children so that's not ideal but we are saving £300 going with Thomas Cook.

    Thanks

£300 saving could buy a couple of DS Lite's[msnwink]

That solves entertainment and they are yours for other trips.

If your flights are booked and paid for, I would try not to worry about what may happen. Have you checked if there is anything else you need to pay for, such as in flight meals and drinks? It may be an idea to get some snacks and treats for the kids in the airport rather than pay airline prices. Keep an eye on the luggage allowance too, I looked at flights with them and found the weights to be quite restrictive - we don't travel light! But remember how much you have saved and once you get to Florida it will all be worth it!

    Have a good holiday,

    Diane.

If your flight is out of manchester at 9 ish then it has 29" seat pitch and no seat back tv but will have central tv. They also have a flight that goes out at 11.15 with 33" seat pitch and seat back tv but this flight is more expensive than the earlier one.

There are meals on both flights but only if you chose and paid for them. If you didn't but wanted to you can go online put your booking ref in and choose to add in flight extras. The meal cost is £18 for adults and this covers both meals on both flights and around £10 for kids.

Have a good time. What date in July do you go?

They also have one witha 29" seat pitch that goes from Gatwick. My sister was advised about this on booking and this also does not have seat back TV's. Seeing as she and her boyfired are both fairly small and not that bothered about inflight entertainment they have booked this flight at a considerable saving.

If the children have some sort of entertainment age appropriate there shouldnt be a problem - after an early start they may sleep for a couple of hours too. Food wise we have never had a bad meal with a charter flight - in fact our worst have been with the larger airlines - our flight back from Washington in premium offered us an awful roast beef dinner and veg pasta - by contrast have had really tasty hot meals on charters but it is all luck on the day... I would book meals for the kids at least but take plenty of snacks like Pringles and sweets but not too much chocolate (can be messy and sickly) as these are what can be pricey on board. Plenty of opportunity to buy these at airport - as well as a few cartons of drink. Otherwise you will be paying for certain drinks and edibles on board. Alcohol and flying don't mix well esp if travelling with kids and driving at the other end IMHO. With what you can save on cheaper flights you could probably buy an iPad or similar to share entertainment. Take your own decent headphones if you can - sometimes the charter ones aren't very good, or they charge a few pounds a pair which is another expense.

As of May this year TC no longer offer a premium service because of new tax rules. You can book the premium seats on their own for the return journey but not the outbound one. This only gives you the seat and no other premium services are available any-more.

Premium seats on the outbound flight are upgraded at check in on a lottery basis.

I have just booked flights with TC and I have had all this info from them when booking myself
