Just another thought:
You don't say exactly what dates you're looking at but whoever is offering the £456 fare into Miami might also add a connection to Orlando for very little more (often the fare is the same that way or sometimes even less). You certainly won't be paying anything like £1,500
Don't assume just Virgin offer flights to Miami. BA, American and now Delta fly direct from London to Miami and the fare is usually fairly competitive as a result. BA, AA & Delta will all add a Miami-Orlando leg which will save you making that and the return trip by car.

Great suggestion, KG.
Now that Delta has joined the airlines which fly to Miami direct it is a very good option.

We have just done exactly this - at a brilliant price (around £350).
This included a connecting flight up to Orlando.
Brilliant! Would do this again as it worked really well.
Miami airport (which we have found a nightmare in the past) was slick and well organised.
The flight up to Orlando was only 40 minutes.
Can also highly recommend Delta - we haven't flown with them for a long time but were impressed.
Incidentally, we also priced the option of flying to Miami and not taking the connecting flight to Orlando - and it was more expensive......!
