Splendid China - What about ticket holders?

I just learnt that Splendid China closed recently. The trouble is, a lot of people in our party wanted to go there and I had booked 6 tickets for them almost 6 months ago THROUGH THIS SITE. Obviously, we will use that day to visit another park, but first, will we get a REFUND for the money spent for SC? If so, how do I go about it? I have sent an e-mailed query to Roger Parry and am awaiting an answer.

It is all shuttered up with no trespassing signs all over the walls ( in case anyone fancies a Terracotta soldier!!) The nearby Days Inn which was owned by the same people and was supposed to be remaining open also looks to have closed. No idea what they will do with it but I hate to say it, it looks like a prime building plot to me.

I sure hope they bring in Lego Land.

Let me know if they plan to sell the Great Wall, I would love to have that in my backyard

It really doesn't seem to have done much for years. We first went about 3 years ago-and had to abandon it about 1/3rd way through-too hot, too much walking and not enough air conditioned areas to cool down in-and after the first half dozen-once you had seen one miniature chinese model you were starting to think it was getting very repetitive.

There was also a meal thrown in witht he price of the admission-which meant hanging around for another 4 hours-so we abandoned that also.

It was a shame-because the best bit at Splendid China was the entrance-with the big Buddha Statue, the Koi Carp and the gift shops. I really wished they had developed it more along those lines with the restaurants opening in the evening and traditional chinese acts taking place in the square inside-but no-it just seemed very spooky once it closed around 7pm

I think the trouble with Splendid China has always been poor management. We went for the first time back in 1995 when it was still one of the new favourites. While we did enjoy the park, I found that the staff had a rather 'Don't care too much' attitude towards the exhibits. On one occasion, a visting oriental family, who seemed to be very critical of some exhibits for some unknown reason, actually started handling some of the statuettes; I complained to one of the stewards, but she did not do much apart from some tut-tutting. What happened in the subsequent years is therefore not really that surprising.
