    USAirways

    Hello

We are flying on Saturday morning [msnsmile2]with US via philli
Can anybody tell me if there is now a charge for baggage. There are four adults and one child and we have four suitcases between us. I seem to be getting mixed reports, becoming confused [msnscared]

From memory, Your allowance is 23kg each, checked in. Then 18kg each carry on.

Any other checked in baggage there is a charge, depending on 1,2 or 3 bags the price changes.

Put all heavy items in cabin bags, making sure they are allowed onboard. (no liquids etc)

Same allowance for child if you have purchased him/her a ticket.

The carry on bag is max dims 36 x 23 x 56 cm so it might be a challenge fitting 18kgs of luggage in there.

Never had a problem getting 18kg in carry on[msnsmile2]

Family & friends like Yankee Candle/Slatkin & Co Candles, etc, as presents, (even better when you can get 1, recieve 1 or 2 free). Which are very heavy. So they go in carry on not taking up weight in checked luggage[msnwink]

The point being, you can easily buy small sized, heavy items that are allowed in cabin, so not taking up weight in checked baggage.

Shows Virgin up for their measly 6kg. My camera gear weighs more than that [msnembarrased]. So at least I can keep that safely with me & not worry about the weight.[clap][clap]

We flew with US Air from Orlando to Las Vegas in 2008 and they charged $30 (I think) per item put in the hold, there was no free item. We only had 1 suitcase between us as we were only going for a few days. Not too sure of the amount we paid but it should be on their website.
