Allways fly Virgin PE and never had a problem and will continue to do so.
As has been said its all a matter of choice and myself and my wife choose to do so.

They let the children in UC too. Mine travel a lot, (20 flights last year) are well behaved, know the drill and frankly pay the same price for the ticket as anyone else. I remember waking up last year wondering where they are and finding them both sat at the bar drinking shirley temples and chatting with the air hostess.

My wife and I have travelled PE every year since 2004 and we haven't had a bad experience yet and 9 hours in PE is vastly more acceptable than 9 hours in economy in our view.

That sums it up really. The question posed is whether it's worth the difference in price not whether it's more comfortable or desirable. To you it's worth it but to others it's not. There's no right or wrong involved.
I've never flown PE and have no plans to but, if you like it, good luck to you.

No Katys Grandad you missed the point. I was replying to Lewisp's post not the original poster, please keep up.
I agree with freddiehollie, i also fly with my kids and I should be able to have my kids in whatever category seats i choose, afterall I pay the same inflated price as everyone do in economy, PE. Also my kids fly very well, but I have know issues with kids who are not so well with flying. Guess if you have kids you would or should understand plus you are going to the land of the magic.
Just got back today flying PE into Manchester on the new A330. Very dissapointing. The seats are in 232 config and imho the room you have isnt a patch on the 747 upstairs seating. The "leather" seats are uncomfortable dont seem to have as much legroom or recline as much and sleep is a no chance. the Entertainment system is better with touch screen and plenty of choice . I wont book VS 75/76 again in PE but if as i understand they are running the 747 on the later flights then i might do but imho you may as well go economy if on the A330. Lets hope the 747 stays in service , they might be old but like a comfy old armchair compared to the new seats. My back is killing me something i never ever got before.

Interesting and disappointing as myself and my wife are flying PE to Orlando from Manchester on the A330 in May. I was looking forward to it until now but I guess we'll see what we think first hand in a few weeks.
Always liked the upper deck on the 747 and may like you have to look at the later flights if we find it as dissapointing as you did.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone else has has experienced PE on the A330.
We flew PE on the A340-600 from LHR to LAX a couple of years ago and we really liked the seats and think they are much better than those shabby old things they have been using out of Manchester until now. A definite improvement we think [msnsmile].

Just returned from Florida with Virgin, the plane was not full either way and lots of people had a full three seats to be able to spread out in and have a sleep especially on the return journey. I have flown both economy and PE personally do not think it is worth the extra as I think how I can spend the extra in Florida, we always try and book the two seats situated at the back of the plane, there are about four rows of just two and we find that they have a lot more leg room especially for the night flight home.

We use Premium Economy as my wife won't fly cattle class. However, we did splash out on Upper Class on trip last year - it's not worth the money. Restricted choice of food, entertainment pod broken and seat didn't recline properly. Virgin really must do better.

We were speaking to the staff on Virgin last time we flew home (March) and they told us that the 747's will be taken out of service for refurbishment - and that PE will move downstairs, and upstairs will be upper class at the front part and behind the exit doors will be ECONOMY! 2 x 3 - so can you imagine how cramped that will be. The 747's that have been replaced by the A330's will come back into service - so I am not sure whether after 2 years it will all be 747's or a mixture of 747 and 330's.
The London airports have the better planes - Manchester always lags behind with Virgin as they are not treated as Business flights.
