    Rope Drop

Is it worth getting there for rope drop?

What is it like and is it worth trying to get all the kids and babies up early to get there for 8:00 or so??

It s good to get there early when the parks are busy, as you an get a few of e big rides out of the way with minimal queues.

We made it for rope drop to Epcot about 2 years ago, had never really been worried about getting to a park on opening before...BUT...LOVED it!!! Some characters came out, photos were taken, a little song with the kids!! Being a self confessed Disney nutter..whats not to like?!! It was something we had not done in 20 years of going, and our 18 year old has put it on the list as a must do on this years trip!![msnwink]

You go through ticket machine's into area before park. When the train comes into station loaded with character's.

They then do a show, (sing, dance, etc). Tinsle Mickey's are fired into air, (should see all the kids chase them) & park opens.

We all enjoyed it, nice start to visit.

At Hollywood Studios its a bit more interactive. They seem to have more audience participitation, but you are closer to the actors.

We have been to rope drop at Magic Kingdom and also seen the characters arrive and perform before opening and then lined up at the rope to get on to our favourite ride. We loved it.

Carol Ann, we were the same that we had never been that bothered before but for the Disney parks particularly it is worth doing. The amount of time saved is so worth while. We will definately be doing it like that again. Although Unversal is not so exciting it is still worth it from a time saving point of view. BG was worth it because we were practically next to the gates in the carpark (more by luck than judgement - we thought it openend an hour earlier than it did so we were third in the queue at the entrance to the carpark!)
