In 17years we have never declared our lentils and never even been asked about them.
We also leave a blender for our guests also you can buy liquid bags very cheaply in either Publix or Walmart so no need to take them with you. In fact they are so cheap compared to the UK that I bring a supply home with me.

I found my first set of liquid bags in Poundland, didn't use them straight away but when I realised how good they are, I couldn't find them again.
I emailed the company and was told that they sell them in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons. My sister found them in her Morrisons 2 for £1, but only 4 bags in each one. Can't find them in mine but now I probably won't have to bother looking for another year! [clap]
My friends laugh at the amount of luggage I bring home but later they normally comment on the useful gadget/gizmo that I've found in my travels.
