    Drinking : ID

We're travelling to Florida in July 2011, my son is aged 22, what
ID will he need to carry to prove (drinking) age ? Does it have to be a passport, which we are reluctant to carry out with us for fear of losing ? Would a UK photo drivers license be ok ?

Believe it or not my husband and I, who are both retired, were asked to produce ID when we ordered drinks in one of the restaurants at JFK last year. They said that they make everyone do it, company policy - crazy or what - or should I be flattered?

It's not only your son who needs ID to drink, to be on the safe side anyone who wishes to drink should carry ID. My Father who is 82 was refused service as he didn't have any ID on him. If you go to Downtown Disney you will need ID to gain entry to clubs etc. Have a good holiday

If you are the driver and have an old fashioned license you need to carry photo ID in case you are stopped for any reason.......we found out the hard way [msnsad]

My wife and I were asked for ID at the Outback in MCO and we are both over 50. Thought they were joking at first but its policy to ID everyone so no one in missed. I think if businesses fail to ID and are caught by the authorities 2 or 3 times they lose their licence and can be jailed so they take it very seriously.

I don't think that is 100% correct unless things have changed recently. I was stopped by the police when I had the old style DL and they never asked my for photo ID.

I can assure you it is. I got lectured by a sherrif for not having any photo ID. His reason was, "how do i know that this license belongs to you?" he then said i should carry my passport with me when driving for the rest of my vacation. He told me if i was stopped again without photo ID i would be arrested. I now have photo ID.
