4th of July in Orlando area

I know its early but we cant stop thinking about and planning our trip this summer.

We want to see how the americans celebrate their independence day and would love if anyone has any tips regarding where its nice to spend the 4th of July. We do not want to spend this in a amusement park.

If age makes a difference we are three generations in the ages from 4 to 65...

Celebration village is good for 4 July they have lots of things going on but go early as parking can be a problem there are some good resturants but book as they can get full quickly.

If you fancy going to Uptown Altamonte, just off the I4 north of Orlando City

Sunday, July 3 - Cranes Roost Park
    4:00 pm - 11:00 pm

    Red Hot & Boom

Red Hot & Boom is the City of Altamonte Springs 16th Annual Independence Day Celebration. The event features live entertainment brought to you by XL106.7 Radio, children's activities, vendor booths, food, drink and a 25 minute fireworks display, synchronized with a mix of patriotic and today's musical hits. Please check back later for this years artist lineup.

We go to celebration but park up at the shops on the 192 and walk in, it takes about 20mins. We normally go and have a meal at Logans, which is almost opposite the shops.

It can take well over an hour to get out of celebration by car.

We have been in Florida a couple of times for the 4th of July. Both times we spent the day at Downtown Kissimmeee, by the lake. They have a real American event, with different stages offering varying styles of entertainment. There are also side stalls and a massive evening firework display over the lake. Lots to see and do covering a large area, the local electricity company were even giving kids rides in their cherry pickers (you would not get that in the UK). All free except for food etc.
Parking is a bit of a problem as it is very popular.

Do not mix Downtown Kissimmee with Oldtown Kissimmee. Downtown where the 4th July celebrations are is located at Kissimmee town centre (on the green between the town centre and the lake). Oldtown is on Highway 192.
