    Credit cards

    Hi e everyone,
I am done here in Florida and forgot to notify the bank I was done here. I went to get gas and used my credit card for the first and it declined. Ugh.
I guess it does work cause I usually call them before I come down and forgot this time so they think someone stole it.
As it was my turn for a break driving down here, switched drivers, I called the bank to let them know.

Today I had to pay for the balance of a house I am renting down here in april, I got an email from the rental company wanting final payment. Again to another surprise paypal would not except by payment. Again I called paypal and they told me I could not process the payment because it was showing from the internet I was not home in Canada. I had to wait till I got back home to do it.

So I called Jim the owner of the home and agreed to wait till I got back to canada.
I always call the owner of the homes we rent to get a friendly friendship.

We recently did the same thing and the card didn't work, but the same bank was happy to let us use our debit card that had a charge on it... makes you wonder [msnscared]

We have our cards refused before now in Walmarts and when I rang the bank they said although we had rung them and told them where we would be and that we would have some large purchases the computer had said NO.

We have had the same problem, when we rang the bank they said they could put a note on the system of the dates we would be in the US but the computer could still stop any transactions untill they rang us for clearance. I pointed out that I would not be at home to accept the call if I was in the US and was told "well this is how it works" not very helpful.

To be honest this is why we always prefer to take cash and travellers cheques with us. I dont see why I should have to ring strangers and tell them I am going away and it's one less thing to think about doing before we go.

Last April I had my credit card declined in Walmart, when I returned back to the villa I found that my husband had been shopping around the same time and his joint card was also declined. I immediately emailed Nationwide and received an apology plus confirmation that it was the way that the salesman had put through my husbands purchase which had caused the problem.
They worked ok for the rest of the trip.

Months later I was out in Spain and my husband was using his card to book car parking at Stansted. He rang me as he needed the password to put the transaction through, I told him to set up his own password for his card but it wouldn't work. Later I realised that both our cards are identical, same number and three digit identify number on reverse.
When we had joint cards with Barclaycard we both had unique numbers but this was before chip and pin was introduced. Unfortunately chip and pin doesn't work in States so how do they identify who's using which card. I've tried to explain this to Nationwide but got the standard answer that they don't see any problem with the way they issue joint cards.
I suggest anyone else who had joint credit cards check to see is the same applies.
