I have heard that it doesn't promote the same family atmosphere in the parks when this event is on but haven't been there at that time personally.
You could try either e-mailing Disney and ask if there are any special event days planned and work around it or try a search on google and you can probably get more information on what is planned.

Whilst I haven't visited the Parks during this time, my understanding from friends, with children, who have witnessed the event, it does seem to detract from the more traditional "Family and Children" atmosphere.

I think that the event usually takes place around the 1st weekend in June and has moved on from a 1 day event to being almost a week.

Friends have said that whilst everything was good natured and harmless fun, at least as far as the adults were concerned, it did lead to a few questions and comments in the early stages, from the younger guests.

Whenever we have been to Disney World, there is usually so much to see and do that you hardly notice individual people, it always seems like one large mass of activity.

I agree DMC, the first week we are in universal resort and second in a villa, the second we want to do 'other than theme park' activities so i think will miss the gay day events. thank you.

We have been to Orlando during Gay Week in the past and have been told that its best to avoid the parks if possible as the crowds are a lot bigger than usual.

There are also a lot of protestors outside the gates.

We'll be there again this June and thanks to Steph's link we now know which parks to avoid on which dates !
