Red face Canadian looking for info on uscarhire.co.uk

I recently found your car rental site uscarhire.co.uk and searched the FAQ section. I still have a few questions that i would liked answered if possible. It states Dollar will not except US or Canadian License Holders but will Alamo or National? Also i see the rate only posted in sterling pound, when converted to US dollars at what rate do we get? at moment it's 1.91 so 275 sterling pound works out to around $431 US dollars. When is the rate locked in? and at what rate can we expect, AT time of booking or when full payment( approx 8 weeks before date of rental if made in advance)Also i see only MasterCard excepted and No American Express CC?
Also i see that you can go for silver or gold option. Other then the gas full feature you pay for, there doesn't seem to be much difference except amount of drivers allowed in some cases. The different in cost between the silver and gold didn't seem to favour going for the gold option when i mainly will be the only driver of the car rented. It worked out to be about $80 for the tank of gas for the compact cars which holds 16 gallons in most cases therefore $4.75 a gallon. Thank You to all replies.
PS" i would be renting for 2 weeks and looking to pickup at Orlando airport and return at same. Any other things i should know about picking up at Orlando airport?

I can help with a few of your questions but one of the people from USCARHIRE will confirm all your questions.

ALAMO are the only company that will allow Canadian drivers to get these good deals.

The rate is quoted in Sterling and charged to your credit card in that currency. The £25 deposit at the time of booking and the final payment 8 weeks before the pickup date. The amount is converted by your card company into your local currency (CAD) at their rate on the day that the charge comes to your account. I'm not sure were the 1.91 rate came from as the current rate is around the 1.60 area.

You are right that if it's just you driving a small car then silver will be the best option.

Credit card payment I don't know about as I use MC so will leave that one.

If you are arriving at Orlando at a busy time the car hire queues can be long. If you have a full size car then you are allowed to use the 'kiosk system' which will bypass the queue. It worth checking out the price difference as it can save a long wait.

    Regards Dave

I confirm all the above, but note with Alamo and National you get 2 drivers on Silver option probably making that the best option for you.

Master Card is fine regardless of where you are from.

    Roger,
The Op asked about American Express CC, do you accept payment by this method?
Also I'm a bit confused as Dave says that only Alamo will accept Canadian customers you mention Alamo and National.

Just to clear up any uncertainty.

I have an interest as I spotted the Op asking similar questions on Tripadvisor and I suggested that they come over here and get it straight from the horse's mouth. So to speak !!!

Sorry, I was just dashing out when I replied earlier. To cover the other points; If you are from US or Canada then you would have to choose Alamo. American Express cannot be used to make the booking (deposit or balance) but can be used as the security deposit when collecting the car.

Within approx the next 2-3 weeks, we will be able to quote and take payment directly in US Dollars (although still not with American Express) so you might find that easier being from Canada.

As DaveL said, the actual currency conversion is done by your card company and is whatever the exchange rate is at the time the transaction is made.

Thank you, Dave,David and Roger for the answers to my questions, since i won't be renting until Feb 2012 , i will wait until the quotes in US dollars come up on the site, also the quick fast Kiosk Alamo will be working by then for all types of cars i hope , as i will probably be going with a compact car as the location where i will be staying is a little tight for parking and it makes it easier with a smaller car to park, and there is only 2 of us.
    Thanks again.

    Cool Thanks

Thanks Roger for your reply, I thanked all yesterday but for some reason it never got posted? I guess i pushed the wrong button maybe?Anyhow i look forward to seeing the site in a few weeks when you state that you will also post in US dollars. I think this will lead for some extra business for you as people from Canada and the US are more use to US dollars and it takes away the worry about the rate exchange difference. I definitely will be using your service come next FEB or April, and will post here and on trip advisor my experience and tell all about your excellent customer service and site.

Your right, I just did, I'm in Ontario

Originally I booked with xxxx, but after all the horror stories I changed my mind.

then I booked through works travel service (xxxx), not bad, but still $300 more than this website, and that did not include insurance.

    Basically uscarhire.com ROCKS!

BTW, just looked at your house for rent as well, I wish I had seen that before, beautiful. I booked a 6 roomed house at Windsor hills only last week.

    Next time!

Sorry to edit your post but it's best not to mention other companies even to say that uscarhire is so much better [msnwink]
