The Belvedere on West 48th Street. I have stayed there on a number of occasions and have always been pleased with it. Another hotel I have stayed in is The Wellington on 7th and 57th Street which is ok but I prefer The Belvedere.
Hope this helps[msnsmile2]

Had good reports of The Jolly Madison
Have a look at the 2020 it's on 20th St. Stayed a few times and restaurant next door is quite good. It's within walking distance of Macy's where all the hop on hop off tours stop.

I can recommend the Hilton Garden Inn, Chelsea (West 28th St). Doesn't look much from outside but the rooms and service were very good.

The Belverdere for me to, the rooms are a decent size and they have a small kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, cofeemaker and sink. We found this really useful. Good location, just off times square.

have a look at 30 30 just of madison ave and only few minutes walk to empire state building
We stayed in the Belvedere years ago and it was fine. Nice sized rooms for NYC. More recently have stayed in the New York Hilton near Radio City, the Crowne Plaza on Broadway at Times Sq and the Empire near the Lincoln Centre. All were very good but the rooms in the Empire are a bit on the small side. Having said that, we complained and were upgraded to a huge room with large sitting area which was a bit like a mini suite so great customer service!
Stayed at the affinia 50...4 blocks from 5th avenue...was really nice..
Staying at the novotel near times square in march...cant wait!!
aka central park are good but look for specials have living room and kitchen or studios
