Our trip part five - sliding doors!

    Tuesday 16th
The boys get on with finishing spreading the last of the mulch. The landscaping looks good and as they finish the VP of the Home Owners Association drives past. She stops and admires the work - she wishes more people would take care of the garden. We stand and chat for a while with her and exchange email addresses [msnsmile] The boys then get back to the issue of irrigation [msnsad] If I hear one more mention of 360 degree sprinklers, soaker hose, gushers, etc I think I will go mad! I leave them to it and get on with.......the painting! Later we pop out for supplies and I am sent to buy doughnuts - yummy!! Noooo!! These are for the garden to put over the sprinker heads so the gardener doesn't mow over them!

    Wednesday 17th
Having declared the landscaping done - except the fine tuning of the irrigation [msnsad] - the boys turn their attention to the sliding patio door which seems to be sticking since our trip in January. Somehow the slider rail has been damaged so the wheels can't glide along. I sound like an expert here but after listening to the debate going on between them while I paint, I think I can wear that hat!! I am sent to google a solution. So, I put down the paint brush (small sigh of relief) and get on with the task. I find a company in Tampa that can help - and after even more debating the boys tell me to call and order what they need. I feel like a glorified PA! Oh well, I think, maybe they will pour me a glass of wine later - after I have cooked dinner of course!!!!! Part ordered, more painting, dinner cooked, dvd....fall asleep on sofa! Will I ever see more than 30 minutes of a film!

    Thursday 18th
Groan - the boys are still debating irrigation! The only good thing is they are back outside! We are also waiting for the repairer from Sears to fix the fridge which thinks it is a swimming pool and the dishwasher which only likes to empty! The dishwasher repair man arrives promptly at 9am - it's the micro switch - well of course it is, silly me! Takes him all of 2 seconds to repair that [msnembarrased] He tells us someone else will come out to the fridge [msnsad] So we wait, and wait, and wait! 2.30pm he arrives and armed with what looks like a vacuum cleaner he starts taking the freezer apart! Our pipe is bocked!!! Sounds nasty! A quick defrost with a heated something or other, a quick vacuum and it's all sorted! Another thing I am now expert at diagnosing [msnwink]
We are having the day off tomorrow and going over to Treasure Island beach and then to visit friends of Geoff's. Will it work out like that?? Tune in tomorrow to find out! Lol!

Hope you got your 'holiday' today and got away from your villa Frances. We are having a week off as we have guests in our villa so moved out. Wonderful. No visits to Home Depot or Lowes. What pure joy[clap]

I would never believe how much work we actually need to do to our villa every visit to keep it upto a high standard that encourages guests to book with us. Most of the owners on here spend most of their days doing as Frances has been doing. It is only recently that we could write about things like this in our trip reports, and of course as most days of our trips were spent upgrading the villa, we did not write trip reports as they would not have been published.

I am so pleased that potential guests can now read what it is we owners do on our 'vacation'!!![msnwink] I am even more pleased that you are finding it interesting. We have been here for 7 weeks now but I have not done trip reports in case they were too boring. Maybe I will think about doing a few[chatter][chatter]

I love hearing other owners trip reports - I don't feel alone then! It is hard work but there is a deep sense of satisfaction when all the work is done [msnsmile] I'm waiting now for a trip report Sandra!

you can get the bushes for the bottom of the patio door from home depot- they sell all sizes. For future ref, for the boys, turn off air conditioning, take out patio doors and lie across pool table, extract bushes, go to home depot, get expert there to match them, come back and fit new ones, and put doors back, turn air condiotining back on when doors closed- whole thing takes about 2 hours. 'door to door' LOL
