Getting from Orange Tree to the nearest Publix

We have rented a villa for 3 weeks in Orange Tree estate on US-27, just north of its junction with SR-192. As far as I know, the nearest Publix supermarket is the one on 192 itself. I guess we will be going back and forth for supplies a lot during our 3 week stay and so it will be useful to know a short cut. The only route that i am familiar with is getting back to 192 (from US-27) and driving upto the shop. Is there a shortcut through the back streets?

Alternatively, info on any other supermarket or mini-mart that has most of the basic food and household supplies and within a stone's throw of Orange Tree will be useful.

I am positive I saw a Publix on the 27 not far from the 192 junction at Thanksgiving and it looked like it would not be long before it opened.

There is a Publix on 27 at Highlands Reserve just down the road from the 192 junction which will probably be easier than the one on 192 as you won't need to turn off 27. If you ask the homeowner of the villa you've rented from they will tell you the closest place.

    Nostromo,

We stayed at Orange Tree in September and the nearest Publix is south on 27 to the 192 and as soon as you join 192 it is on your left hand side.

As Steph mentions if you continue south on 27 for about another mile or so there is one on 27 on the right.

However there is a supermarket nearer. If you turn left out of Orange Tree onto 27 southbound there is a Winn Dixie Marketplace about 2 miles down on the left hand side. This is about 1/2 a mile before the junction with 192.

    Hope this helps.

OK, thanks all of you. That is a relief. When travelling with a large group and staying in a villa, one has to think of so many things other than just visiting the parks. It is great to be a member of a Forum like this and get (and give, wherever possible) help.
