    What happens if........

Not bothered, or thought really before, but this time I have been wondering what would happen if the airline that I had booked direct with went bust? Does travel insurance cover if you've booked direct with the airline or can you take out cover for that possibilty? We are looking at US Airways or (unlikely) Virgin. I would have thought before that it was unlikely that these would go under but lately there are a lot of companies that have gone that from the outside with no knowledge look to be large, safe companies. Any thoughts or advice gratefully received.

Most insurers should cover you, you would need to check you individual policy for coverage.

I think you have to specifically ask if you are covered for "airline failure insurance".

Don't forget too that if you book using a credit card you get a certain degree of protection through the card company.
