confused first timer

Hello, I have been looking at all the park tickets and now my head hurts as there are so many options. If you were me and coming to Orlando for the first time what attraction would you say are a must see. There are 5 of us in our party 4 adults and a teenager. Thanks in advance.

My advice would be the Orlando 6 Park Flex Ticket AQUATICA ticket. Plus either a 1 or 2 day Disney ticket for the magic which is for every age, young or old.

Anything specific or vague, for example Disney, Sea World, somewhere with roller coasters and white knuckle rides, somewhere with shows, somewhere a bit different and off the beaten track? (We can even give you a whole bunch of ideas if you don't know where to start [msnsmile2])

Is it somewhere you think you would come back to every year, or some years, or maybe never?

Sorry to ask questions back but there is just so much to see and do in Orlando there isn't a one size fits all answer to your question. The best thing is to talk about it a bit and see where we get to.

I agree with Steve, we are all differant and age doesn't seem to matter, I have one likes coasters one doesn't. So just let us know the sort of thing you think you want to see or do and someone will be here to help.

Hi Thank you everybody for your advice. We aren't going until December 2011 so have plenty of time to sort it out, I like to get stuck in and suss out as much as poss as soon as the descision to go has bee made! lol. We want to experience as much as possible without overdoing it and there is certainly a lot to take in too. I like the look of the Fun in the sun package 2 and adding on Disney Quest, that looks like it covers the main attractions.

What is it like weather wise in December? Will it be too cold for the water parks? Is there anything that I have missed out that is a must see at xmas?

Really love this forum as everybody is so helpful and obviously have a passion for Orlando. Thanks again everyone.

Alisa, you're in for a treat if you're heading out around Christmas time.

You didn't say how long you were going for so I'll guess at two weeks as this is pretty typical.

Some ideas then ...

For two weeks at Christmas my own personal recommendation would be to do Disney and do it to the max; even skipping some of the other attractions.

Disney is chock full of all kinds of super things at Christmas, so I'd say that rather than try to cram everything in (and end up knackered by the time you get home), just go Disney through and through, soak up every last detail, and then perhaps add a couple of teeny tiny snippets in and around.

Must sees - my personal favourites are the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights at Disney Studios and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot. You'll also not want to miss the fireworks display at Epcot (Illuminations) and Magic Kingdom (Wishes). Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (often referred to as MVMCP) is another must-do if you're out there at Christmas.

For a few snippets maybe consider having a trip to Ice at the Gaylord Palms and have an evening up in Celebration drinking hot chocolate watching the carol singing and snowing.

Personally I'd probably skip the water parks in December but I'd definitely add an afternoon of crazy golf. If you play the Winter course at Disney's WinterSummerland it has a real Christmassy feel to it.

Add in two or three days for some Christmas shopping (make sure you have heaps of luggage allowance unused when you fly out, ready for the trip home) and maybe a day at the beach and you'll wonder where the time went.

To do something different from the theme parks and discover another aspect of Florida, you could go to Blue Springs National Park (among others) and see the manatees and all the other wildlife. You could even go to one of the places where you can swim with the manatees (google Crystal River or Homossassa River).
If you browse around this forum you'll find many many ideas to suit you and your family.
Keep in mind the parks are really exhausting, so you shouldn't try to do too much. We (2 adults and 2 teens) like Universal and IOA, and then Seaworld, better than Disney, but it's a very personal thing, and if you've never been you should really go. As previously said it's wonderful at X-Mas time.
