    Virgin Atlantic Premium Economy

Am now thinking of splashing the cash (cant take it with you can you?) and upgrading to PE. Has anyone got any experiance of the service and in your opinions is it worth the extra cost? Also to prebook I have been quoted £250 per person and 75% of this for kids (2 adults 2 kds) do you think taking a risk and booking on the day would be cheaper?

    Thanks in advance.

If you are travelling at a busy time or want to sit together then book now and know you have the seats.

PE on The Orlando route is not like PE on the rest of the Virgin fleet unless it has been upgraded recently. Other members who have travelled recently can give a better view on the quality.

Personally i wouldn't bother, the services offered aren't much different from economy so you'd be paying £875 for legroom and a seat which is a bit more comfortable.

I'd make do with economy and spend the money relaxing for 8 hours in Discovery Cove and still have money for photos and souveniers. [msnwink]

Just my opinion though. We're travelling Virgin economy next March and will be stretching out at Discovery Cove a day later [msnsmile2][msnsmile2]

I don't think it's worth it but a lot do. If you can't run to Upper Class, stay in Economy and have the money to spend on the ground.

Personally we always thought that PE was worth it, especially if you could get upstairs. However, it really is horses for courses and finding what your personal preference is.

We travewlled with 2 Disabled Teenagers last time around, one in PE and one not. in my opinion, because I flitted between the two, theres NO WAY it's worth the extra. No way. We were about 10 mtrs away anyway, and had the seats in Economy in front of the galley..there was just as much leg room as in PE.

£800 would be 4 days spends for us in FL!

I would say if you want PE at a reasonable price, go with Thomson - its only about £300 return more (if that) and the service we got was far superior to anything we have had received on Virgin

Always a difficult question and the only real answer is " is it worth it to you?"

Personally, my answer is yes (there is so much more than just a bigger seat, no queing at check in, priority boarding, better service, first off so through immigration quicker etc etc), if you do and are flying from Gatwick make sure you get a seat upstairs as this is very different to the PE seats downstairs.

I am in the Virgin Lounge in Heathrow typing this, waiting for my flight back to Shanghai. 30 hours on a plane this week and I wouldn't have even thought about doing that in anything other that Upper class... worth every penny to me, but again this is a very personal view.

For the first time last May we flew back Orlando to Manchester in PE. We liked the fact that the seats were larger and more comfortable, plus being in the bubble it was very quiet and we were able get a good nights sleep during the overnight flight. We have used Virgin on our last five flights to Florida and this year was by far our best flight home. We have already booked our flight to Florida for next April and will be going out in economy and returning in PE. We have no problem in flying out in economy, but find flying back in PE is more relaxing and nicely finishes off the holiday at time when my nerves can be a bit frayed to say the least. I also agree with FraserLynn it is nice not to have to queue at the Downtown Disney check in, have priority boarding, get a slightly better level of service and be first off at arrival in Manchester.

yes it is worth paying the extra, at least for the return journey. We were off the plane, through customs and collected our cases within 30 minutes yesterday morning at Gatwick.[msnsmile2]
