We are returning to Florida October 2011, is it better to buy our park tickets now, or wait until next year?
Also what about car hire, book now or wait until next year?

In all the years I've been interested in Florida I've only ever seen Disney et all do one thing with the prices of their park tickets, and that's put them up.
So if you know what tickets you want/need, and your cashflow is up to it, you'll almost certainly get the same tickets for a bit less now than you will then.
The exception to this could be the Sterling / Dollar rate, as Disney tickets are originally priced in dollars. If Sterling were to stage a radical comeback over the next 12 months this would affect ticket pricing. Whether it would beat off any price increase by Disney though ... who's to know. Personally I would doubt it, but if I knew the answer to that question I'd be buying the island next to Richard Branson and jetskiing over for cocktails of an evening.
For car hire I'm less sure. Again, the hire cars are ultimately priced in dollars at the source, but there is a lot more corporate machinery between you and the product where hire cars are concerned. I'll bow out of this answer for someone who knows more about the industry than I do.
Definitely cheaper to buy now.
