    Virgin Atlantic child prices

Is there any reduction for children with Virgin Atlantic. They will be 3 and 8 at the time of flight

    Thanks

Yes not sure how much depends when you fly but our flights for November cost £435.94 per adult and my 3 year old grandaughter cost £383.16 although these prices were miles plus money so slightly cheaper than the full air fare which I think was £580

    Hi

I read somewhere on the Virgin website that the child fare is 75% of the adult fare

We usually find kids fares marginally cheaper than adults. Children under (I think) 3 a nominal price but they do not get a seat, they sit on your lap. We have always flown with Virgin

Most Virgin child fares for next year (2011) are coming out at just under 85% of the adult price.

Dave[/quote]I suspect that comes about because there's a standard reduction on the base fare for children but the taxes and charges have to be added at the full rate so the final fare ends up closer to the adult rate than you might expect.

I am sure we have never paid 85% of the adult price so thank you Katy's Grandad for explaining how that happens because they have never been that much less[msnsad] Thought maybe they had changed things now we have 2 teens and only 1 child to pay for [msncry]

The other question is when does a child become an adult.

For BA and Virgin it seems to be 12, but for the charter Co's it seems to be 16.

We have paid the following (excluding taxes as they are the same)

    Adult: £207
    Child: £141

Child changes to adult at age 12 (before the date of return)
Infants are classed as under 2 years and they do not have to have a seat. Any child over 2 must have a seat at the childs rate.

We are experts in flying Virgin with kids!! [msnwink]
